What is the difference between a member and a participant?
A member is a person who has paid their annual dues and is in good standing with LYC Minnesota. They also enjoy the privileges of belonging to an International Organization that is dedicated to building good will and fellowship among Gay Asian American's, their friends and supporters. A participant can often be viewed as a guest or visitor to one of LYC's numerous activities and events.
Q:
Can participants attend LYC meetings, events and activities?
Any one can attend an LYC event as a member, participant or guest.
Q:
What's up with those funny red envelopes?
Those little red envelopes are fund-raising tools that are passed around at LYC meetings and serve as a way for attendants to make anonymous donations to the activity or goal of their choice.
Q:
Are there any fees for attending meetings?
We used to charge a fee at the door based on a person's membership status. That custom is now extinct. As of March 2004 we have opted for passing around of red envelopes as a means of targeted fundraising.
Q:
Do you have to be a member to be a Host?
Any participant or member can be a Host providing that they have the space
Q:
Is this club only for Asians?
LYC is open to anyone and everyone. Review our Mission Objectives for a clearer understanding about what we're trying to achieve
Q:
What is this every Wednesday evening at a Coffee shop thing?
Every Wednesday is an LYC Coffee Night. Currently Vera's Cafe shop at is a nice informal Cafe hangout where people from LYC can get together for coffee and casual chatting. It is not the same thing as our monthly meetings.
